The Code 3 James Bond Octopussy restoration & modification. Model and description from Kees D

1983 was the year of Octopussy, the Bond movie, Watching the opening scene of the movie there is a lot of action, but watching it again several times you can see the horsebox is actually just a simple box on one axle.

1983 was also the year Corgi sales went down, as computer games became more popular.

In an attempt to boost up sales, the Octopussy 1:64 set was made. It is a junior set of the Range Rover, Acrostar and horsebox. Not only was the set very simple and poorly made, it was also done in a blister packing, a disaster to most collectors.

I decided to make my own 1:43 version. The Range Rover is a standard Universal Hobbies model with Bianca in the seat. The horsebox is made out of six scrap Corgi horseboxes. On the side there is a door leading to the control centre, in the rear a horseback with tail showing. A little give away is that you can see the front pin of the Acrostar airplane sticking out of a hole in the tailgate. Opening the gate the horseback lifts up and the airplane comes out unfolding its wings, Bond in the seat. Box and inner diorama complete the set. It was finished in black at 1:43 scale.
