Details of Corgi 261 James Bond Car
The Corgi James Bond Car.
This smaller, 97mm long, version of the car was released in October 1965 and was replaced by the larger No270. This model was awarded of 'Best Boys Toy of 1965'.
The bullet proof shield is released by pressing the exhaust pipes. There minor variations of the front wing vents and rear lights between 2 different castings.
In the film in which Sean Connery was secret-agent James Bond
with his Aston Martin DB5 which featured:
- Two Browning machine guns behind the front indicators
- Hydraulically retractable bumpers for use as battering rams {isn't used in the film}
- Rotatable number plate with English, Swiss and French badges {resp. 007 JB, JB007, BMT216A}
- Smoke generator for creating a smoke screen
- Rear oil pump to make road surface slippery for pursuers
- Mechanism to scatter crow's feet on the road
- Retractable bullet-proof screen to cover the rear window
- Navigation/radar system to track cars
- Telephone
- Last but not least: ejector seat to get rid of unwanted passengers
The original price was 9/11 . It was available in gold finish at 1:46 scale. Released as Corgi 261 in 1965 withdrawn as Corgi 261 in 1968.
