The French Dinky Renault TN4H Autobus Parisien Production ceased with the outbreak of World War 2 and therefore, there was no advertising in catalogues nor in Meccano Magazine. The 111mm long model costs fr. 9,00. Between 1940 and 1949, all models produced had Zamak, metal wheels. Hubs and rubber tyres were restored in 1950, with the price rising to fr. 155. The Renault autobus was withdrawn in 1952 and replaced by the Panhard-Somau (24D).

The French Dinky Renault Military Ambulance 1000kg. Introduced in 1959, the 85mm long Renault Goelette 1000Kg. military ambulance cost 460Fr. (Old Francs), about 8/3. With its Drab Bronze Green metal bodywork, windows, opening rear door, ridged hubs and smooth tyres, the model was renumbered, 820, and fitted with concave hubs later in the same year. Subsequently, model 820 was withdrawn in 1970, to be modified and renumbered as 807, with its plastic roof and floor.

Renault launched the 1000Kg. van upon which the model was based in 1945. The new French government were looking to re-establish motor manufacturing and tasked Renault, nationalised because of its war-time collaboration, with producing a 'workhorse', a solid, inexpensive and functional 1000-1400Kg van. Using a sideways placed engine, Renault also produced the vehicle as a 4x4; ideal for military use. Eventually, and after almost 125,000 vehicles were produced at the Billencourt plant, the Estafette (French Dinky 563-565) replaced the Goelette. Cost 460Fr available in olive drab finish. The French Dinky Renault Floride This Renault Floride, first appeared in the 1960 catalogue. Two years earlier, Renault unveiled the car itself as the Dauphine GT, at the Geneva Motor show, but by October 1958, at the Paris Motor show, they had re-badged it as the Floride, only to change the name, again, when the car sold in Britain and the USA. The car became the Caravelle said to avoid alienating buyers in Florida. The 97mm long model had window glass, suspension and spun hubs, but no internal fittings. Renault realised that a beautiful woman, like film-star Brigitte Bardot, photographed with their vehicle would associate her with a beautiful car. Photographing her in St. Tropez, posed on the Renault Floride ensured that internationally the car became a motoring icon. The French Dinky Renault R4 Sinpar Advertised in the second edition of the 1968 catalogue, French Dinky introduced the Renault R4 Sinpar, 1406, 'Michel Tanguy' later in the same year. At a length of 85mm, the model cost 11Fr. (New Francs), about 22/- or £1, 2/-. The model featured a fold down windscreen with plastic windows, camouflage, an antenna, bonnet camera, steering wheel and instrument panel and two figures, which represent characters from the television series. The model's chassis was not the same as the one used for models 800 and 815, the army and gendarmerie's versions. The model was withdrawn in 1971.

The model's decoration was designed by one of the programme's characters in the second episode. The model was basis on the Renault R4, 4x4. The engineering for the car's 4x4 drive was produced by Sinpar, a division of Renault.

Created by Jean Michel Charlier, Michel Tanguy was the main character in a comic strip, which became the French television series, 'The Knights of Heaven', some seven years after the comic strip first appeared.. The comic strip was illustrated by Albert Uderzo, who also illustrated the Tintin and Asterix books. The music accompanying the television series was sung by French star, Johnny Halliday.

The Michel Tanguy stories were about two friends from a flying school, who were sent to Meknes in Morocco for advanced training. The team of Tanguy and Laverdure flew Dassault Super Mystere (French Dinky 60A) and later, the Mirage III, the model produced by Heller. The television programmes maintained that the squadron once included the World War I, French fighter ace, George Guynemer. Michel Tanguy's character was serious, honest and obedient. The blond, Ernest Laverdure was eccentric, blundering and awkward. He was portrayed as a strong character and the person who customised the Renault 4x4.

In Britain, during, 1966, the 'Knights of Heaven' comic strip appeared in the Lion comic, under the title , 'The Flying Aces'. Michel Tanguy was renamed, Jim Power, and Ernest Laverdure, Terry Madden. The futuristic style adopted had the men described as 'aeronauts'.

The French Dinky Renault R8 Gordini Advertised in the second edition of the 1968 French Dinky catalogue, French Dinky introduced the Renault R8 Gordini in 1969.

French Dinky introduced the Renault R8 Gordini in 1969. At 93mm in length, the model cost 9Fr. (New Francs), about 18/-. This sporty version of Renault's small family car distinguished itself with its blue paintwork and two white stripes across the bonnet, roof and rear engine compartment. Normally, the model displayed race number 36 on the front doors, but not on the bonnet. French Dinky issued some models without a race number. The Renault R8 featured plastic windows, seating, suspension, jewelled head and spot lights and a driver in a yellow overall.

In 1969, French Dinky also produced a yellow or mustard coloured limited edition, the 1414HC. This version had all the features of the Gordini, without stripes and race numbers and frequently came unmanned.

In 1964, the Renault R8 Gordini replaced the highly successful Renault Dauphine and production continued through to 1970, when the R12 replaced the R8 and R10. The R8 came with four different sized engines, from 956cc to 1289cc and with either a 3,4 or 5-speed gearbox.

Known as 'The Socerer', racing legend, Amedee Gordini's name provided the brand name for the R8. In 1946, he founded a motor racing company, which had a successful profile in Formula 1 and 2 as well as in the Le Mans 24 hour race between 1950 and 1956. During 1969, Gordini established Renault's sports division and eventually, his firm became fully integrated into the Renault company. Today, Renault retains the name Gordini to show the sporting heritage of its Clio, Twingo and Wing vehicles.
