The Tekno Volkswagen Beetle Introduced in 1953 and deleted in 1957 although it still appeared in the 1958 catalog. In 1959, the 'new' VW beetle with wider rear window was introduced, larger scale and detailed wheels. Tekno was by far the first toy manufacturer to introduce 'plastic' windows in some of its cars, such as the VW beetle and the vans; also the Porsche 356. Also, for one year, in 1953, Tekno had the " VW" embossed on the metal hubs, a very rare find. I assume that it was too detailed and costly to make and they discontinued it. The Tekno Volkswagen 1200 From 1969 to 1972 the model was sold in a bubble pack without the Tekno name. Models from 1961-72 were assembled by others until 1974 and there are constantly new old stock never assembled cars on the market. Most visible difference compared to the previous model, is the front indicators on the front wings.
This model was a completely different model from the earlier one. I has a different base with springs. Other bumpers, totally different body and an interior. It was a far more lifelike model, except for the bumpers.

The Tekno Volkswagen 1200 Models from 1958-60 had no interior and no suspension. The windows could be clear, but mostly blue or green tinted.
