The Tekno Volkswagen Beetle. Introduced in 1953 and deleted in 1957 although it still appeared in the 1958 catalog. In 1959, the 'new' VW beetle with wider rear window was introduced, larger scale and detailed wheels. Tekno was by far the first toy manufacturer to introduce 'plastic' windows in some of its cars, such as the VW beetle and the vans; also the Porsche 356. Also, for one year, in 1953, Tekno had the " VW" embossed on the metal hubs, a very rare find. I assume that it was too detailed and costly to make and they discontinued it. Particularly rare to find, is the Police VW in two tone black and white. It was available in white & Black, bronze finish at 1:50 scale. Released as Tekno 805 in 1953 withdrawn as Tekno 805 in 1957.
