The Dinky BBC TV Extending Mast Vehicle. Released in October 1959 and advertised on the back cover of that months Meccano magazine for 13/6. The mast extended to 60ft on this vehicle. Fitted with plastic windows and a crank to extend the mast.

The early 1960s was a very significant decade in the development of outside broadcasts television. For example the Race at Brands Hatch (south of London) in 1964 when Jim Clark won the British GP and the funeral in St. Paul’s of Sir Winston Churchill in 1965. This Bedford-chassis of the rel vehicle was made by Merryweather & Sons at Thames. The original price was 13/6 . It was available in green finish. Released as Dinky 969 in 1959 withdrawn as Dinky 969 in 1964.
