Details of Dinky 40e Standard Vanguard
The Dinky Standard Vanguard.
Released December 1948 at 1/9. Two versions were produced one with open rear wheel arches 1948-50 in beige and one with covered rear wheel arches that was renumbered to 153. withdrawn in 1960. an illustration in the February 1954 Meccano Magazine shows the open wheel version.
The Standard Motor Company Limited was founded in Coventry, in 1903 by Reginald Walter Maudslay. For years, it manufactured Ferguson TE20 tractors, powered by its Vanguard engine. All Standard's tractor assets were sold to Massey Ferguson in 1959. Standard purchased the Triumph Motor Company in 1945, and in 1959, Standard changed its name to Standard-Triumph International and branded its products as Triumph. A subsidiary The Standard Motor Company Limited, and took on the manufacture.
The original price was 1/9 . It was available in red, fawn, blue,dark blue finish at 1:46 scale. Released as Dinky 40e in 1948 withdrawn as Dinky 40e in 1960.
