The Dinky Austin Taxi Featured interior detail. later versions had spun hubs. The 2 tone colour scheme introduced in January 1956. Shown in the September 1956 Meccano Magazine. Renumbered from 40h. Priced at 3/6 on the February 1961 price list.

Based on the FX3 taxi cab that was made between 1928 and 1958. The real vehicle was designed for London taxicabs, but was used in other towns and cities in the UK. Commissioned by taxi dealers Mann & Overton it was built by Carbodies of Coventry on an Austin chassis.

Cost 3/1 available in yellow, yellow/green, light blue, dark blue finish. Dinky in detail...

The Dinky Dublo Austin Taxi Released in March 1959 priced at 2/6d. Based on the Austin Taxi FX3 which had a Austin engine and chassis with the body built by Carbodies of CoventryThere were three model variations all based on the wheels: Smooth grey plastic wheels, Treaded grey plastic wheels and Treaded black plastic wheels. It was withdrawn in December 1964 at the same price of 2/6d. It did have a short revival with Lines Brothers (Tri-ang) who took over Meccano.
