French Dinky 525 B

The French Dinky Peugeot 404 Break. The Peugeot 404 [1:1] was styled by Pininfarina and launched in 1960 with the estate coming along in 1962 in three versions, Familial, Break and Commercial.

This die cast model is a Break-type – as marked at the bottom plate –, this Break version had two rows of seats. The Rear seat up and in this Dinky model it is nicely reproduced. It enjoyed several neat features: the backrest of the backseat can be folded using a knurled wheels just ahead of the driver’s side rear wheel and last but not least the opening rear door will clip into the open position firmly holding the door open. About the suspension: some semblance of steering is provided but it is very poor.

** Other versions were as: Pompiers (Fr) = Fire Brigade, Red Cross, Gendarmerie (Fr) = police, Commerciale, La Poste (Fr), etc.

In real car there was a choice between two petrol engines of 1400 and 1500cc and a diesel of 1900cc. This model replaced the Peugeot 403 Estate which had been sold since 1959. It was available in dark blue finish at 1:43 scale. Released as French Dinky 525 B in 1961 withdrawn as French Dinky 525 B in 1967.
