The French Dinky Studebaker Maraicher. During the immediate post-war period, French Dinky Toys reflected the need for France to rebuild its motor industry and the nation’s heavy reliance upon war-surplus vehicles left behind by the Americans. In 1949, French Dinky introduced the Studebaker Maraicher (Market Produce) truck, 25K. Typically for that year, the model, 25K/1a, had red metal wheels, which were replaced by tyres for model 25K/1b, during 1950. The model appeared in sky blue or red, with wheel hubs in several colours, notably blue, red fawn and occasionally yellow. The length of the truck was 105mm and its cost was Fr. 180 (old Francs). 25K/2 was introduced in 1951, but was withdrawn in 1952. During 1950-1952, French Dinky also produced the more expensive (Fr. 200) Studebaker Tapissière, 25L, which was identical apart from the addition of a tarpaulin cover (bâché). The original price was Fr.180 . It was available in blue, red & blue, red & tan finish. Released as French Dinky 25K in 1949 withdrawn as French Dinky 25K in 1952.
