Details of Dinky 960 Lorry Mounted Cement Mixer
The Dinky Lorry Mounted Cement Mixer. Based on an Albion Chieftain chassis. When in motion the mixer body rotates and cad also be tipped to discharge it's load. Released in August 1960 in a blue striped box retailing at 8/9, Advertised inside the front cover of the July 1961 Meccano Magazine for 9/6. This model was in production until 1968 when it made its last catalogue appearance, priced at 10/9. The box shown below, has a pictorial scene occupying two panels with end flaps, it was the last version produced, and is perhaps the scarcest of all boxes. With rotating mixer drum driven by the rear wheels and plastic windows. The chassis was marked 'Albion Chieftain Dinky Supertoys' the earlier model shown came in a blue striped Dinky Supertoys box. The original price was 8/9 . It was available in orange with blue & yellow or grey drum finish at 1:50 scale. Released as Dinky 960 in 1960 withdrawn as Dinky 960 in 1968.
